About Kumho

Kumho says it began as a rubber manufacturer in South Korea and focuses on innovation, performance and value in its tires. Its range addresses commuting, off-road driving and performance driving, with products also developed specifically for electric vehicles.

Our Kumho selection covers Ultra High Performance, Touring, High Performance, Performance and All Season tires. Within that selection, Kumho describes Ecsta LX Platinum as combining comfort and handling for luxury sedans and crossovers.

For crossovers and light SUVs, the brand describes Crugen Premium as emphasizing quiet comfort and responsive steering. Solus TA31 takes a similar comfort-focused approach for passenger vehicles, with tread features Kumho says support steering response and wet-road traction.

Written from Kumho’s own pages (kumhotireusa.com) and our catalog.

Technology in Kumho tires

The technologies Kumho names for its tires, in plain words.

  • ESCOT TECHNOLOGY

Kumho says this technology optimizes braking and steering to support comfortable, safe driving.

  • F3 TECHNOLOGY

Kumho describes this as combining performance-focused design and aerodynamic racing technology with attention to cost-efficiency.

  • K-Silent

Kumho describes K-Silent as noise-reducing technology. In Crugen HP71 EV, it uses sound-absorbing polyurethane foam for a quieter ride.

Which Kumho tire is right for you?

Start from how you drive. Each choice links the Kumho lines described for it.

  • Everyday commuting in a car or crossover

Kumho describes Solus TA51a as a fit for coupes, sedans, crossovers and SUVs, with a focus on quiet comfort, dry and wet grip, and responsive handling.

  • Trucks and SUVs with workload duties

For standard and workload applications, Kumho offers Crugen HT51 for CUVs, SUVs and light trucks. The brand says its solid center block supports traction and handling.

  • Wet roads and light snow

Kumho describes Solus TA71 as supporting wet-road and light-winter driving for luxury sedans. For CUVs and SUVs, it says Crugen HP71 uses grooves for wet traction and full-depth sipes for winter traction.

  • Performance and track driving

Kumho positions Ecsta V730 for performance driving on and off the track. Its shoulder blocks, reinforced center rib and wave-shaped micro-grooves are designed to support steering response, dry traction and heat dispersion.

How to choose a Kumho tire

A few things to settle before you pick a line and a size.

  1. Match the vehicle and driving

Start with the intended application: Kumho designs Solus TA51a for cars through SUVs, Crugen HT51 for highway and workload use, and Ecsta V730 for performance driving on and off the track.

  2. Compare the details that matter

Look beyond the intended vehicle. Kumho says Solus 4S HA32 uses a pine-resin compound and center-block tie-bars, while Solus TA31 EV focuses on reducing rolling resistance, noise and vibration.

  3. Check mileage and warranty terms

For some Kumho tires, our catalog lists treadwear warranties from 50,000 to 75,000 miles depending on the line. Terms differ by line; read the brand’s warranty page, linked below, for coverage and eligibility.

Kumho warranty

What Kumho’s own pages say about its warranty. The terms are the brand’s and can change.

  • Kumho states passenger and light-truck tire coverage lasts up to six years from manufacture or purchase, whichever comes first. Proof is required to establish the purchase date. Its warranty page sets out who is covered.
  • The limited warranty addresses tires made unserviceable by material or workmanship conditions during usable tread life, with more than 2/32 inch of tread remaining.
  • After the first 2/32 inch of original usable tread, Kumho describes a percentage credit toward a comparable new tire. Taxes and service costs remain payable.
  • Kumho mentions Full Coverage and Road Hazard protection, but its limited warranty excludes road-hazard damage and related irregular wear. See the brand’s warranty page, linked below, for the separate protections and their terms.

Kumho tire questions

How long does Kumho’s limited warranty last?

Kumho states a period of up to six years, measured from manufacture or purchase, whichever is earlier. Material or workmanship coverage also depends on remaining usable tread. The brand’s warranty page, linked below, explains eligibility and the applicable terms.

Does Kumho cover punctures or other road hazards?

Kumho mentions Road Hazard protection separately from its limited warranty. The limited warranty excludes damage such as punctures, cuts and impact breaks. Consult the brand’s warranty page, linked below, for how the protections differ and who is covered.

Does Kumho have a trial warranty?

Kumho describes a 30-day trial warranty for complete sets of four or more eligible tires, excluding original-equipment tires. Trial tires must be undamaged; wear exceeding 1/32 inch is excluded. Its warranty page explains who qualifies and the receipt, survey and return requirements.

Which Kumho tires are designed for electric vehicles?

Kumho offers Crugen HP71 EV for electric CUVs and SUVs, TA91(EV) for electric passenger cars and CUVs, and Solus TA31 EV for battery-electric vehicles. The brand says its EV designs consider vehicle weight, torque and quieter-ride needs.

Which Kumho option is intended for vans?

Kumho includes vans among the intended applications for Crugen HT51, which it describes as designed for highway driving and workload use. MT71 also targets light trucks and vans, but its design emphasizes off-road traction and tread self-cleaning.

How do Solus 4S HA32 and its SUV version differ?

Kumho positions Solus 4S HA32 for passenger vehicles and Solus 4S HA32 SUV for CUVs and SUVs. Both use a high-grip compound containing pine resin, 3D slope tie-bars and an hourglass visual treadwear indicator.

What helps MT71 handle mud and stones?

Kumho says MT71 combines a high-void tread pattern with shoulder mud and stone ejector bars to support off-road traction and self-cleaning. The brand also describes its tread compound as designed to resist cuts and chips.

How does Kumho use computer modeling?

Kumho says its digital twin system brings together computer-aided engineering and AI for tire design. It also describes AI-powered virtual modeling as a way to improve tire precision and performance.

Which Kumho tires fit my vehicle?

Shop by vehicle or by the size on your tire’s sidewall: the results show every Kumho tire in your size, each with its price per tire and installation & fees.
